  • Long time, no post

It's been a while since I posted anything, I feel kind of bad about, so I'm going to give you guys an update as to what I've been doing since October.

For one, I started making jewelry. Mostly wire wrapping, I've been interested in rings more than anything. I've made a handful of those and two or three pairs of earrings. Nothing fancy, but give me some time ! When I move back to San Francisco I will be sure to post pictures, my sister is in a photography class and has a really nice camera, while I on the other hand have a small cool pix and no transfer wire.

As far as patterns go, I'm working on a wallet at the moment, I've completed a test wallet and liked it, but there are some adjustments I need to make. You can expect to see a pattern from me *hopefully* within the next month or so, I've got a few things to do before I move back this April.

As always, look me up on Ravelry.com my username is BrainSpazm and if you have any questions or comments please email me at plumcakepudding@gmail.com

  • Framed Jewelry Display

I made this for a craft fair this coming weekend, it's not super amazing but I do like how it came out.

I chained a multiple of 5 and added 2 for my turning. SC a few rows, chain 8, *TR, chain 4, TR* across. Then I did a ch 2, *sc in TR, 4 SC in chain space* and then SC in the 4th chain. I stringed on some beads to the yarn to add some decoration to it. I will probably never again use beads lol.

If you are going to make one yourself be sure that your chain is longer than the actual cardboard because it will shrink a bit and be sure that it will stretch enough to reach the ends of the cardboard.

  • Crochet PSP Cozy *Guide*

My friend asked me to make him a hacky sack with the slipknot logo on it. The yarn I have is too thick to make something that detailed, so instead I made him a psp cozy :) This is just a guide to how I did it, you can later go over and embroider or sew on something.

I used an F hook (3.75mm) and Peaches and Creme yarn in black (worsted weight, 4ply). If you use a yarn of another thickness then you will not obtain the same results.

PSP cozy is worked in rounds

    Ch 12
    Sc in each stitch,
4sc in last stitch, Sc across
    3sc in last stitch
Sc in rounds until desired length reached.

Make sure you check and make sure the cozy fits your PSP.

For the last two rounds I did two sc decreases on each side. The last round is sc all around.

Now it's time to make the flap !
Work 9 rows of 10 sc.
sc in the next 4, ch 3, sk 3, sc in the next 3.
sc in each stitch across placing 3sc in 3ch space
    1 row sc
    Fasten off !

Sew on a button and add decorations as you see fit.

  • Amigurumi Jellyfish

I used an F hook (3.75mm), Lily's Sugar'n Cream yarn, a stitch marker, a tapestry needle, stuffing, and 3mm safety eyes. If you use a different yarn you may end up using a different size hook. I used an E hook when I used Caron Simply Soft.

    Jelly fish body

    Color A
    Magic circle
    6sc
    2sc in each sc - 12
sc in next sc, 2sc in next sc - 18
sc in next 2 sc, 2sc in next sc - 24
    sc around
sc in next 3, 2sc in next sc - 30
sc in next 14, 2sc in next sc - 32
sc in each sc for 5 rounds
    sk 1, [1hdc, 3dc, 1hdc], sk 1, sl, repeat until end
    Fasten off, weave in ends.

    Jelly fish bottom

    Color B
    Magic circle 6sc
    2sc in each sc - 12
sc in next sc, 2sc in next sc - 18
sc in next 2 sc, 2sc in next sc - 24
sc in next 3, 2sc in next sc - 30
sc in next 14, 2sc in next sc - 32
    Fasten off leaving long tail.

    Tentacles

    Color A
    Make 2:
    ch 20
    2sc in each stitch
Fasten off leaving 4 inch tail

    Color B
    Make 2:
    Ch 25
    2sc in each stitch
Fasten off leaving 4 inch tail

    Assemble !

Insert safety eyes and embroider a smile with black yarn.

Thread the tentacles through the right side of the jellyfish bottom (the side that will remain visible), knotting them securely on the wrong side (the part that will not become visible). Cut a few pieces of both yarn A and B (I did 4 of each) and knot the bottom so that they do not unravel. Thread them from the right side and slide your needle through the knots made from your tentacles.

Using the long tail from the bottom piece, sew the bottom to the body, stitching it to the row just above the waves. Stuff the body firmly just before you finish sewing. Finish sewing and knot the end to ensure it does not come undone, hide the knot and the rest of the yarn inside the body.
